Tom Burnham

Tom has been a dedicated member of ISCP since 2001—over 20 years! Currently, he is Senior Road Research Engineer-Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) in St Paul, Minnesota, USA. He is a Founder and continuing researcher associated with the MnROAD test facility. His 29-year career with the MnDOT has focused on:
• research related to the materials, design, performance, construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of concrete pavements
• characterizing the behavior and performance of concrete overlays
Tom has a Bachelor of Science (BS)/Civil Engineering Degree and and Masters of Science (MS) Degree in Structural Engineering/Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. He is one of the principal and long-term researchers involved with the MnROAD pavement test facility. He has authored/coauthored of over 50 technical publications, and presented at 17 international conferences related to concrete pavement. Tom is a current/past member of TRB Standing Committees AFD50 (Concrete Pavement Design), AFD70 (Pavement Rehabilitation) and AFD40 (Concrete Materials and Placement). He has managed several national pooled fund studies related to the creation of improved design procedures for thin bonded and unbonded concrete overlays. He looks forward to contributing to the continued success of the society.
