Manik Barman
Manik Barman, Ph. D., is Associate Professor of Civil Engineering, University of Minnesota Duluth, USA, (2020-present). Dr. Barman teaches Infrastructure Materials and Pavement Engineering-related courses at UMD: Infrastructure Materials; Pavement Analysis and Design; Pavement Rehabilitation and Management; and Advanced Pavement Materials, Design and Construction. And, he conducts research on: Infrastructure Materials; Pavement Design and Rehabilitation; Application of Structural Fibers in Cement Concrete; Fatigue and Thermal Cracking Issues of Asphalt Pavements; and Intelligent Compaction of Asphalt Pavement Layers.
Dr. Barman received his Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh; Masters of Technology (M.Tech.) degree in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur; Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) degree in Civil Engineering from North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology, India; and Diploma in Civil Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of Narshingarh, India.
Previously, Dr. Barman was Assistant Professor–University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD), Minnesota, USA (2015-2020); Adjunct Assistant Professor-University of Oklahoma, USA (2016-2016); Post-Doctoral Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow-University of Oklahoma, USA (2013-2015); Assistant Professor-Banaras Hindu University, India (2007-2008); and Lecturer-National Institute of Technology Agartala, India (2004-2007).
He is actively involved in several professional organizations (ASCE, TRB, ACI, ACPA, ISCP, NRRA, IRC, IEI, etc.) and currently serves as a Member in the two Standing Committees of the Transportation Research Board (TRB). He is a peer reviewer of several scholarly journals in his research area.
