Juan Pablo Covarrubias
Juan Pablo Covarrubias, P.E., General Manger TCPavements®, has his Civil Engineer degree from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. His interest is in advanced study of the behavior of rigid pavements to vehicle loads and environment. He specializes in rational analysis and mechanical responses of supported slabs on ground—pavements and floors. He is an expert in ME Design software and Finite elements for slab on ground, and is a consultant for materials design and concrete pavements construction.
As General Manger-TCPavements®, Mr. Covarrubias is responsible for developing and creating the business model for the TCP® pavements. Among the activities are: promotion, design, sales and product implementation, negotiation with potential agents in other markets, research and development of variations and new associated technologies. He is responsible for over 500 projects for the design and construction of pavements.
Mr. Covarrubias is also the Project Manager of the TCP Design Software, “OptiPave®” and “OptiPave ® 2” as well as the Executive Director of LTPisos where he has designed 120 industrial floor projects using the latest technologies for this type of construction in 5 countries.
Other positions Mr. Covarrubias holds are Professor-Concrete Technology and Materials Engineering at the University of Los Andes; Pavement Design and Construction at the Universidad de Chile; and Director–ISCP (International Society for Concrete Pavements), in charge of the Transfer Technology Committee. He participates regularly in the committees for construction and design of concrete pavements for TRB (Transportation Research Board) and ACPA (American Concrete Pavement Association).
Mr. Covarrubias has written over 15 publications regarding the TCP® technology in international conferences and directed nine undergraduate thesis degrees at the University of Los Andes and the University of Santiago De Chile. He has presented the TCPavements technology in over 15 countries and exhibited in over 30 national and international seminars, including conferences for TRB, ISCP, ACPA, FHWA, EUPAVE, and Ministry of Public Works for Chile, Peru, USA, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, and China.
