South Africa: PIARC “International Seminar on Road Pavements”—To be Held during “Durban Regional Conference for Africa”

The PIARC International Seminar on Road Pavements will be held within the framework of the Regional Conference for Africa. The seminar aims to bring together national and international road officials at all levels of government and professionals from the private sector and academia to discuss topics related to sustainable pavements for the future. The presentations made by the participants will be followed by a discussion and a collective elaboration of conclusions and recommendations.

This year, the theme of the conference is “Roads to Economic and Social Growth” and the objectives are:

• To promote the transfer of national and international knowledge and experience in environmentally friendly paving techniques at all stages of the pavement life cycle
• To provide participants with the opportunity to interact with national and international experts focusing on new technological developments related to low cost systems
• To contribute to the improvement of national road networks and testing strategies, including safety
