American Concrete Institute Recognizes Industry Leaders with Prestigious Awards

The American Concrete Institute (ACI) has announced its 2025 honorees, recognizing individuals, groups, and organizations for their exceptional contributions to the concrete industry. Among the highest honors is the induction of five new Honorary Members—Khaled Walid Awad, James N. Cornell II, Jerry A. Holland, Max L. Porter, and Bruce A. Suprenant—who have demonstrated extraordinary service and leadership in advancing ACI’s mission. Additionally, 14 long-standing members are being honored for their five decades of dedication, and 20 professionals have been named Fellows for their outstanding work in concrete research, education, and industry practice.

Award recipients will be celebrated at the ACI Concrete Convention, set to take place from March 30 to April 2, 2025. The event will highlight achievements across multiple categories, including personal and service awards. This year’s Personal Award winners include Alain Belanger (Henry L. Kennedy Award), The Institute of Concrete Technology (ACI Strategic Advancement Award), and young professionals Hessam AzariJafari, Mohamed ElBatanouny, and Scott Z. Jones, who are being recognized for their early-career achievements. In the academic sector, Reza Moini is receiving the Walter P. Moore, Jr. Faculty Achievement Award for contributions to engineering education.

ACI is also acknowledging leaders in service and innovation through several distinguished awards. The ACI Certification Award is being presented to Lance A. Boyer, Carl L. Cunningham, and Scott Hougard, while the Chapter Activities Award honors Andrew R. Lawrence, Nancy Torres, and Sunny Samir Surlaker. The Delmar L. Bloem Distinguished Service Award recognizes Andrew W. Taylor, Benoit Bissonnette, Kyle Stanish, and Kent A. Harries for their long-standing contributions to the Institute. Meanwhile, ACI Foundation Awards highlight groundbreaking advancements, with winners such as Hani Nassif (Arthur J. Boase Award) and Anton K. Schindler (Building the Future Award).
