The International Society for Concrete Pavements (ISCP) hosted its 2025 Combined Annual Membership and Board Meeting on Sunday, January 5, in Washington, D.C., with both in-person and virtual participation. The meeting celebrated significant accomplishments in 2024, laid the groundwork for upcoming initiatives, and engaged members in discussions on the society’s future direction.
A key highlight was the success of the 13th International Conference on Concrete Pavements (ICCP), which attracted 386 participants from 21 countries, featured 13 sponsors, and hosted nine workshops and a tour. The conference also achieved a financial surplus, leaving ISCP well-positioned for future events. In addition, the Open Journal System (OJS) for ICCP was expanded, with all past proceedings now assigned Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to enhance visibility and accessibility. Feedback from members strongly supported making these resources open access, a recommendation that will be reviewed by the Board of Directors next month.
Membership saw positive momentum in 2024 due to the reduced individual and organizational rates introduced at the 13th ICCP. The society also emphasized improved communication with industry partners to maximize engagement. Plans for 2025 include exploring new regional outreach opportunities, strengthening international collaborations, and scouting potential locations for the 14th ICCP in 2028, with Southern California emerging as a top contender.
The meeting underscored ISCP’s commitment to knowledge dissemination and strategic planning. Future priorities include expanding the OJS repository to include classic papers, presentations, and forward-looking white papers. Additionally, ISCP aims to enhance its technology transfer efforts through webinars, regional events, and collaborations with international organizations to promote concrete pavement expertise globally.
The society concluded the meeting with updates on financial health, upcoming board elections, and ongoing efforts to revitalize its digital presence. With strong member engagement and a clear roadmap for the year ahead, ISCP is poised to continue advancing the concrete pavement field while fostering collaboration across its global network.
