Among the honorees, the Hartmann-Hirschman-Egan Award was presented to Glenn Eder, a veteran of the concrete paving industry whose career has spanned over four decades. Glenn’s leadership and commitment have left an indelible mark on the industry, with peers celebrating his mentorship, technical expertise, and long-standing service. Similarly, the Harold Halm Presidential Award was given to Matt Zeller, P.E., for his groundbreaking contributions to concrete pavement specifications and innovation during his tenure at the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Concrete Paving Association of Minnesota.
The Marlin J. Knutson Award for Technical Achievement was awarded to Bernard Izevbekhai for his extensive research and technical advancements in concrete pavement technology, including his influential work with MnROAD. Brent Burwell received the Outstanding Promoter Award for his pivotal role in fostering collaboration and innovation in Oklahoma and Arkansas through his work with contractors and transportation departments. These individual awards underscore the profound impact of technical expertise and advocacy on advancing the concrete paving industry.
Project-based awards also shone a spotlight on exemplary achievements in sustainable and innovative construction practices. The Iowa Department of Transportation-Emmet County Highway 9 project earned the Best in Show Sustainability Award for its commitment to recycling and eco-friendly operations. The Route 28 Interchange Improvement Project in Pennsylvania was recognized with the Best in Show Innovation Award for employing cutting-edge methods like stringless paving and non-destructive testing. These projects exemplify the future of concrete pavement design, showcasing how creativity and responsibility can enhance infrastructure while meeting environmental and operational goals.
