The International Society for Concrete Pavements (ISCP) has exciting news for graduate and undergraduate college students interested in concrete pavement research. ISCP is hosting its renowned Student Poster Board Competition at the upcoming 13th International Conference on Concrete Pavements (ICCP), scheduled for August 25-29, 2024, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. The best student presenter will be honored with the prestigious B.F. McCullough Award, named after the esteemed Professor B. Frank McCullough, a pioneer in U.S. concrete pavement engineering.
This competition offers students an exceptional platform to showcase their research on various topics, including innovative technologies, sustainability, construction, and maintenance related to concrete pavement systems. To participate, students must adhere to crucial deadlines:
- December 31, 2023: Submission of a statement of intent to participate and an estimate of financial needs (Download the Guidelines Here). This statement also provides a discount code for early-bird student registration, exclusively for poster submitters. Submit your materials via email to tcavalline@charlotte.edu
- March 31, 2024: Draft posters are due for initial review.
- April 30, 2024: Feedback from the initial poster review will be provided.
- July 31, 2024: Final posters must be submitted along with student registration for the conference.
- August 26, 2024: The competition day, where judges will evaluate posters based on criteria such as effectiveness, technical content, conclusions, and visual impact.
In addition to the chance to win the B.F. McCullough Award, students have the opportunity to seek financial support for conference attendance. By estimating their financial needs in their statement of intent, ISCP will attempt to identify potential industry sponsors willing to assist with travel, hotel, and registration costs. However, support is not guaranteed.
For further details and inquiries, students and educators are encouraged to contact Dr. Tara L. Cavalline, the Student Paper Competition Coordinator, at tcavalline@charlotte.edu or by phone at 704-687-5035. This competition promises not only recognition but also a valuable platform for budding researchers in the concrete pavement field. Don’t miss out on this exceptional opportunity!
