Long-time ISCP member and concrete pavement enthusiast, Dr. Manik Barman was acknowledged with the University of Minnesota Duluth’s 2023 Chancellor’s Distinguished Research/Creative Activity Award (less than 10 years of service) early this week.

Dr. Barman is an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering, University of Minnesota Duluth, where he teaches Infrastructure Materials and Pavement Engineering-related courses. He conducts research on: Infrastructure Materials; Pavement Design and Rehabilitation; Application of Structural Fibers in Cement Concrete; Fatigue and Thermal Cracking Issues of Asphalt Pavements; and Intelligent Compaction of Asphalt Pavement Layers.
He is actively involved in several professional organizations (ASCE, TRB, ACI, ACPA, ISCP, NRRA, IRC, IEI, etc.) and currently serves as a Member in the two Standing Committees of the Transportation Research Board (TRB). He is a peer reviewer of several scholarly journals in his research area.
