April 14: What You Need to Know about Precast Mixers When looking at the anatomy of a busy precast plant, the mixer is surely the heart of the operation, as rely on it to reliably churn out yard after yard of quality concrete to keep the products moving out the door… (click on webinar title for webpage & to register)
May 12: “Identifying Mix Design Efficiencies“ G. Terry Harris, Sr., FACI, GCP Applied Technologies
In precast operations, production practices and mixture proportions are developed to ensure that quality standards are met, but it’s the mix that sets the standard. How is your mix? Does it produce the strength, durability and aesthetic qualities required? Does it give you the desired plastic properties? You may answer yes to all these questions but still not be taking advantage of available efficiencies… (click on webinar title for webpage & to register)
June 9: “Testing Fresh Concrete” Claude Goguen, P.E., LEED AP, NPCA
Fresh concrete testing is one of the most important aspects of an efficient precast concrete quality control program. The results are vital to reducing variability while enhancing product quality… (click on webinar title for webpage & to register)
September 8: “Get Packing! We Are on a Quest to Better Concrete with Combined Aggregate Gradation” Paul Ramsburg, Sika Corp.
In our quest for the perfect mix design, we often experiment with a variety of cementitious materials and admixtures, while potentially ignoring the most influential material of them all: the aggregates. In terms of volume and weight, they are the dominant material, and their gradation has a significant impact on concrete strength, durability, sustainability and even cost. That’s why optimizing … (click on webinar title for webpage & to register)
September 22, September 27, September 29, October 4 and October 6
“PQS II-Technical” Presenter: NPCA Staff
A 5-day course—4 hours of class each day—on the technical is designed for plant personnel who are responsible for design, interpretation of drawings, product setup or quality control. Attendees will learn the technical concepts that explain why we do things the way we do them in the plant. This curriculum will decode technical industry jargon and provide attendees with a better technical understanding of the entire precasting process. Engineering concepts …
Participants are required to attend all five sessions and pass a final exam in order to receive credit for this course. Total of 20 hours… (click on webinar title for webpage & to register)
November 10: “AutoCAD Tips and Tricks” Kayla Hanson, P.E., NPCA
Concrete excels and boasts incredible strengths when placed in compression. However, did you know that concrete may only exhibit about 10% of its compressive strength when placed in tension? This is the primary reason concrete is often reinforced with steel. When used together, these two… (click on webinar title for webpage & to register)
