About Juan Pablo Covarrubias, Sr.:
Juan Pablo Covarrubias, Sr., PhD, FACI, Executive Director-TCPavements®, Chile is the inventor of Thin Concrete Pavement (TCP®), (world patent no. 44820), a revolutionary technology in rigid pavements that has been widely implemented in many countries in the world including initially in Central and South America. TCP typically reduces pavement thickness by 4-10 cm (1.5–4.0 inches) as compared to designs obtained from conventional design methods. He is an internationally recognized concrete and concrete pavement expert who has contributed significantly towards the development of concrete pavement technology in Latin America for more than 40 years. He is the Executive Director of TCPavements®, Chile since 2006. Dr. Covarrubias was an active collaborator in the efforts that led to the founding of ISCP in the late 1990’s and served on its Board of Directors for several terms with distinction and was a Board member of ACI between 2002 and 2005. He was inducted as an ISCP Honorary Member in 2016.
