Following the release of the European Concrete Paving Association‘s infographic “Concrete Pavements make roads more sustainable”, EUPAVE’s working group on Environmental Strategy decided to release fact sheets focusing on its different items.
1st document on “How “high albedo” contributes to reduction of carbon emissions from road transport”, looked deeper into the high albedo effect. Download it here: https://www.eupave.eu/eupave-releases-fact-sheet-on-high-albedo/.
2nd document on “How concrete pavements contribute to a reduction of fuel consumption”, focused on fuel consumption. Download it here: www.eupave.eu/new-fact-sheet-how-concrete-pavement-contribute-to-a-reduction-of-fuel-consumption/. 3rd document on “Concrete roads are 100% recyclable” focuses on how concrete is made with local raw materials and is 100% recyclable. Concrete having reached the end of its life can be crushed to provide aggregates – sand and stones – for use in new concrete or in other cement-bound or unbound applications such as road bases. In all cases natural resources are saved.
Concrete mixes for road construction can accommodate low carbon cement types using secondary materials (fly ash, slag) recycled from other industries, resulting in “equal performances.” For this 3rd FACT SHEET, please click on image above, or go to: www.eupave.eu/wp-content/uploads/FACT-SHEET-Recycling-v131120.pdf
