The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced Michael A. (Mike) Meyers has been appointed the new Manager of the Airport Engineering Division (AAS-100)-Office of Airport Safety and Standards. The announcement was made by John R. Dermody, P.E., Director, Office of Airport Safety and Standards -FAA, and Patricia Hiatt, Deputy Director, Office of Airport Safety and Standards-FAA.
Dermody stated, “Mike has served a number of years as the Deputy Manager of the Airport Engineering Division. In the Spring of 2020, the Airport Engineering Division was split into two branches, and Mike was selected from a national search of highly qualified candidates as the manager for the “Airport Data and Airspace” Branch (AAS-120).”
The other branch of the Airport Engineering Division is “Design and Construction“.
Mike was born in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and earned a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia. He served several years as a consultant in the private sector and joined the FAA Office of Airports in 2009.
“Mike has a big heart, an outgoing personality, and a great sense of humor. He lives with his wife, son and daughter in Maryland,” said Dermody.
