The Australian Society for Concrete Pavements (ASCP) is offering
2 Online Training Courses with 3 dates each. Each course will be
conducted in two ½-day morning sessions
—8:30 am to 12:30 pm (GMT+10)—on sequential days:
“Principles & Practices for Concrete Road Pavements”:
October 7-8 | October 27-28 | November 17-18
“Jointing & Structural Detailing for Concrete Pavements”:
September 24-25 | October 14-15 | November 10-11
These courses are interactive, but course participant numbers are limited to about 20, so they are being held 3 times each to provide more opportunities to attend! For the COURSE PROGRAMS, please click on the coordinating link to see each 2-page flyer PDF. (Past in BLUE, Upcoming in GREEN):

8:30 am to 12:30 pm (GMT+10)
“Jointing & Structural Detailing for Concrete Pavements”:
Geoff Ayton, formerly TfNSW, will present the course, offering decades of local and international experience to the industry on jointing and structural detailing—a crucial component to concrete pavement design and construction. Recommended for concrete pavement designers, specifiers, and supervisors. There will be opportunities for attendees to ask questions and interact with the presenter. The course will cover:
• JOINT TYPE—the most risky component of rigid pavement design and construction—will be systematically covered. The TfNSW Rigid Pavement Standard Drawings are frequently consulted and course attendees will gain confidence in the appropriate selection and function of joints in each rigid pavement type.
JOINT TYPES & FUNCTIONS
GEOMETRIC FACTORS
SEALANTS
CURBS, BARRIERS & PITS
ROUNDABOUTS
CYCLEWAYS
• Basis of CONCRETE ROAD PAVEMENT REINFORCEMENT DESIGN, including a useful comparison of steel reinforcement design practices from around the world with historical and recent Australian practice. Best practice for the detailing of steel reinforcement for concrete road pavements is covered in the course.
CONSTRUCTABILITY CONSIDERATIONS
REINFORCEMENT DESIGN
INTERFACE DESIGN AT STRUCTURES AND FLEXIBLE PAVEMENTS
• SETTLEMENT, SUBGRADE DRAG AND INTERLAYER are key topics for any concrete pavement technical worker or professional to grasp. The historical basis for many of the key assumptions that still influence the design and construction of rigid pavements in Australia today.
