The chief executive leaders of Concrete and Masonry Related Associations (CAMRA)—17 concrete and masonry related associations—met via videoconference in mid-June, along with Jerry Voigt, President and CEO-American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA). CAMRA meets several times throughout the year to share ideas and discuss cement/concrete industry issues. Jerry’s “3 MINUTES ON MONDAY” Video that illustrates his “7 Key Staff Efforts” Plan was release mid-June as well.
The virtual meeting addressed how the associations are handling meetings and events, and how they plan to return employees to work—keeping in mind flexibility and alignment with state-issued coronavirus plans. ACPA highlighted its recently implemented “Return to Office” policy, which ties to the state of Illinois’ 5-phase plan health plan—national employees will continue working from home, and travel will continue to be limited until phase 3 of the Association’s plan.
Voigt said, “We are protecting the individual employees and our Association team by not jumping right back to the office all at once. We have to follow Illinois’ requirements, and these, along with changes and new health and safety protocols by our office building management company, are factored into our approach.”
In Voigt’s mid-June “3 MINUTES ON MONDAY” Video, he illustrates that rather than calling the plan back to work, he prefers to call it the “BACK TO OFFICE” plan, since nationally, the ACPA staff has been VERY productive during work-at-home status! ACPA’s human resources consultants from Better Business Planning, provided recommendations for the phased-in approach. He also discusses pandemic and social justice.
We reflect upon the significance and weight of current events. At the same time, we take measure of OUR mission, and our efforts to conduct our mission as we always endeavor to do, with integrity and respect for our members. We’ve made great progress toward our goals.
