FORUM OVERVIEW:
• Airfield concrete pavement sign—Brisbane Airport New Runway: Ian Thompson, Senior Principal-Pavements, Jacobs, will outline the pavement design process with an emphasis on the concrete taxiway pavements. Ian’s presentation will include functional requirements of the different pavements, traffic mix including assessment of future aircraft, concrete thickness design, and construction details.
• Cementitious products-testing for shrinkage—Shrinkage control and measurement: Daniel Bosco, Managing Director-Bluey Technologies, will investigate some of the limitations to testing for shrinkage and also the relevance of various test methods. This discussion will highlight the complexity of the field of concrete cracking. Volumetric stability of cement products from the time of casting through to curing and service life is a complex and widely misunderstood field. There are many ways to reduce shrinkage, and various forms of additives to compensate against shrinkage of concretes, grouts and mortars.
• Practical steps to achieve excellent ride quality—Achieving ride quality – Coopernook to Herons Creek project: Todd Myers, Director-TSM Civil Project Management, will look back on the 2009-2010 Coopernook to Herons Creek project, and review some of the practical steps taken to achieve an excellent ride-quality on the project.
• Launch of ASCP PNOO1 overview—Concrete Pavement Value: Economic, Operational & Community benefits (PN001):—Justin Moss, President, ASCP—ASCP spent the last 6 months developing the first of its industry briefing notes— Pavement Note 001 “Concrete Pavement Value: Economic, Operational, and Community Benefits”.
