While receiving a Christmas Homage from a delegation of the Ezza clan at his Uburu country home, Ohaozara LGA, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi, Nigeria announced December 31, 2019 that the Federal Government recently approved the state’s International Airport, and it will be completed within 18 months! He noted that constructing an international airport is not an easy task. Umahi assured Ebonyians of speedy completion of the airport situated at Ezza land, said that the standard construction of an international airport usually takes six and 10 years to be completed, but that this one in Ebonyi will take only 18 months!
He said: “Building an international Airport is not an easy one. To build Airport project like the one we are building usually takes six to eight years, or even ten years, but the Ebonyi International Airport will be completed in 18 months. The tarmac of the Ebonyi International Airport will be one-foot concrete pavement which is the highest in the world. The highest I know is eight inches concrete-base but this one will be one-foot concrete pavement that is guaranteed to last for more than 50 years,” he said.”
He later inaugurated a committee that would ensure the smooth payment of compensation for crops and economic trees to the owners of the land used for the construction. Dr Kenneth Ugbala, Leader-Ezza clan Delegation, Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government (SSG), and Coordinating Commissioner, commended the governor for appointing indigenes of the area into key positions of his cabinet. Ugbala also thanked the governor for choosing the clan for the airport’s construction among other infrastructural projects sited in the area.
