Australia: 25 Pavement Recycling & Stabilization Audio Sound Files/Bytes (3+ min. ea.)

Australia’s Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) gathered 25 sound files/bytes as an oral history project. The files are available to download as individual MP3s or as a whole CD. Each sound file is 3 minutes or more. The oral history project examines themes such as the:
• Evolution of pavement design and construction practice
• Various methods of pavement stabilization
• Significant role played by Local Government
• Ongoing development of specialized equipment
• Use of additives and recycled materials such as fly ash and blast furnace slag
• Efficiency gains which flowed from targeted research and effective cooperation with industry

The project was based on 28 hours of digitally recorded interviews with 23 participants:
• Former staff from digital mobile radio (DMR)
• Former and current staff from Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) and Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA)
• Executive from the New Zealand Transport Authority
• An engineer from Local Government
• Operators and managers in the pavement stabilization industry
• An academic
