For most of the past 10 years, the staff of the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA), along with local promotion groups, staff, and consultants representing the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CP Tech Center), have gathered for an Annual Concrete Pavement Summit. Year to year, the discussions at this important event help improve concrete pavement overlays, which have gained increasing acceptance and use throughout the United States.
The summit is a great opportunity for peer-to-peer discussions about design and construction issues that contribute to the overall health of the concrete overlay market including:
• Pavement performance
• Quality
• Durability
• Other topics
The 2019 meeting at the end of October was no exception. The CP Tech Center and ACPA welcomed concrete pavement professionals from across the United States for the annual concrete overlay summit. The participants presented reports and shared perspectives on key issues and opportunities in their respective states/regions. the two-day meeting gave ACPA National staff, the CP Tech Center and state/regional promotion groups the opportunity to compare notes and discuss timely topics. In addition to reports and discussions about current issues and opportunities, the group also discussed resource needs to inform and educate engineers, contractors, and others involved in the research, design, construction and rehab of concrete overlays.
