Bolivia Law Mandates Concrete Pavements

A law was passed in Bolivia, South America on July 24, 2019 mandating the use of concrete pavements. Dr. Ing. Erwin Kohler, 3ipe and ISCP Board of Directors, said, ”A similar story happened in Paraguay, and for awhile in Ecuador at an international airport, as well as a road pavement engineering firm located in Las Condes, Santiago, Chile.”

The law provides for the use of portland and/or pozzolanic cement for the implementation of road infrastructure that are part of the Nation’s Primary Road Network.

Dr. Kohler noted that he does not favor laws mandating pavement type, but offered the document for information purposes—and provided a translation of the law. For the translated version, please go to: http://www.acpa.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Bolivia-SUPREME-DECREE-Concrete-Pavements-red.pdf
