The American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) and the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) joint paving committee has assembled a Paving Tool Kit—a library of resources for concrete paving contractors and designers, and now provides content to promote & install concrete parking lots.
Bev Garnant, Executive Director-ASCC said, “These resources have been extremely beneficial to our paving contractors for both promoting and installing concrete parking lots. The information they need to convince owners, developers, and designers that concrete is the paving material they want and need is all here in one package.”
RESOURCES—click each title (or image) to download resource:
Paving Brochure—Reference guide for concrete parking lots that details the benefits of concrete parking lot development, outlines the NRMCA Design Assistance Program (DAP), and provides reference and comparison illustrations and charts for material thickness.
Illuminance PFB1-Understanding Lighting and How LED are Changing the Game—This NRMCA brochure compares a concrete parking lot to asphalt surfaces: how concrete decreases energy costs due to its lighter color and surface reflectivity.
Shedding Light on Concrete Reflectivity—This real world case study of a Walmart in Leavenworth, Kansas focuses on energy savings with a concrete parking lot.
Guide to Concrete Overlays of Asphalt Parking Lots—The National Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CPTech Center) guide provides information about selecting, designing, and constructing successful concrete overlays on existing asphalt pavements.
Concrete Parking Lot Construction and Design FAQs—Frequently asked questions (FAQ) on reinforcement, jointing and sealing.
ACI 330.2R-17: Guide for the Design and Construction of Concrete Site Paving for Industrial and Trucking Facilities—ASCC recommends this guide designed to assist architects/engineers, contractors, and testing agencies with designing, detailing, constructing, repairing, and inspecting site paving.
ACI 330R-08: Guide for the Design and Construction of Concrete Parking Lots—Information on site investigation, thickness determination, designs of joints and other details, durability, paving operations, and quality-assurance procedures.
ACI Parking Area Quick Reference Sheet—Recommendations for 20-year design thickness, jointing, best construction practices and more.
Parking Lot Checklist for Pre-Construction Conference—Extensive pre-construction checklist recommended prior to beginning a parking lot construction project.
Design Assistance Program (DAP)—NRMCA PROGRAM provides detailed recommendations for specific concrete parking lot design, including CAD jointing recommendations, and the opportunity for design consultation.
ConcreteTracker—A collection of concrete building and paving case studies assembled by NRMCA. Building owners, developers, architects, engineers, and others can search for information about a concrete building or paving project.
Concrete Promotion—A wealth of information for concrete contractors along with planning and design assistance programs and webinars.
Concrete Parking—Printable and downloadable brochures on concrete parking and paving subjects.
Advantages to Concrete Parking Lots—Joint presentation from ASCC and NRMCA that outlines the primary benefits of concrete parking lots and failure points in asphalt lots.
