Dr. Peter Taylor, Director-National Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CP Tech Center) and Steve Tritsch, Gordon Smith, John Adam, and Hamed Sadati Staff Members-CP Tech Center joined more than 13,000 attendees at the “98th Annual Transportation Research Board (TRB)” Annual Meeting in Washington, DC, in January, 2019.
In addition to attending various lectern sessions, workshops, and poster sessions throughout the week, the CP Tech group participated in a number of committee meetings. During several of the meetings, attendees were provided an update on the CP Tech Center activities. Dr. Taylor is a member of the AFH50 committee (Concrete Pavement Construction and Rehabilitation); and Steve Tritsch is a member of AFN30 (Durability of Concrete), AHD20 (Properties of Concrete), and AFD50 (Concrete Pavement Construction and Rehabilitation) committees. The list of committees included:
• AFN10 Basic Research and Emerging Technologies Related to Concrete
• AFN10.1 Nano Technology
• AFN20 Properties of Concrete
• AFN30 Durability of Concrete
• AFN40 Concrete Material and Placement Techniques
• AFH50 Concrete Pavement Construction and Rehabilitation
• AFD50 Design and Rehabilitation of Concrete Pavements
• AHD20 Pavement Maintenance
• ABC40 Transportation Asset Management
• AHD18 Pavement Preservation.
Gordon Smith, Associate Director-CP Tech Center, was a speaker in a lectern session titled “Quality Assurance in Construction and Smart Technology”. The focus of his presentation was “Performance Engineered Mixtures (PEM): A New Path for Quality Assurance of Concrete Pavements”.
The CP Tech group also joined fellow researchers, engineers, agency, and industry friends at the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA) Reception on Monday evening, and the Iowa Evening Reception on Tuesday evening. These events provided important opportunities to communicate what the CP Tech Center is accomplishing across the nation.
