The third webinar in the webinar series titled “Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Webinars” is now available. The webinar which aired on December 5, 2018 titled “Overview of Macrofiber Software and Guidelines for Concrete Overlay Design” is the third in a series of educational webinars on macrofiber use in concrete production sponsored by the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CP Tech Center). It is now available on video and as a PDF transcript, along with 2 others in this series. The instructors for all three sessions were Jeffery Roesler, Ph.D., P.E., University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and ISCP President; and Amanda Bordelon, Ph.D., P.E., Utah Valley University, Orem.
This third webinar gives an overview of the macrofiber software for determining the recommended fiber reinforced concrete residual strength values for application to concrete overlay design. The inputs and factors affecting the required fiber reinforced concrete content were discussed, as well as integration of the calculated residual strength with the existing concrete pavement overlay design methods.
The instructors offered guidance on how specifications can be adapted to include macrofibers in concrete overlays in order to make sure the designer’s intentions are carried out in the construction phase.
