THIS FORUM will open with a summary of many of the key issues presented and discussed at ASCP’s recent conference held in Kingscliff, NSW, Australia in July. The day following the conference, a workshop was held with selected representatives from stakeholder groups to discuss:

  • CRCP cracking
  • concrete pavements for major road rehabilitation projects
  • concrete airfield pavements

Key outcomes will be discussed. Speakers will be:

This will be followed by a report from:
Sam Henwood – current RMS developments and progress on the CRCP crack discussion paper
Steven Gamble – audits of NSW quarries, findings from the audits, responses from quarry owners and managers, and subsequent progress over three years.
Prathapa Ravindran – conclude this RMS segment, present on rigid pavement designs on settlement prone subgrades.

Anticipating major upgrades on several NSW highways, including the Hume Highway, ASCP has been compiling information about concrete options for such works and reporting on this:
John Hodgkinson, ASCP Consultant-Scholarship and Honorary Member, ASCP – four concrete overlays carried out on the Hume Highway in the 1990s
Justin Moss, ISCP Member – international practice and information presented at our recent conference.

Silicone sealants need revisiting, and reporting on this:
Peter Battista – sealant properties for high movement joints, joint preparation and sealant application
David Groth and Michael Heathwood – a recent alternative sealant trial on the Pacific Highway, existing issues with joint sealant performance, and current RMS specifications.
