The European Concrete Pavement Association (EUPAVE) and its members participated in 1st European Road Infrastructure Congress October 18-20 in Leeds, UK. Organized by European Road Federation (ERF), the Congress offered the chance to discuss the challenges and opportunities for the road sector across Europe over the coming years, especially on the themes of safety, sustainability and innovation.
EUPAVE was represented by Karl Downey, EUPAVE Secretary General and Luc Rens, EUPAVE Managing Director and ISCP Board Member, as well as by members BBS Barriers and Deltabloc. Karl Downey gave a presentation on sustainable roads and public procurement, in which he highlighted the potential for the new EU Public Procurement Directives to boost competition in road construction and save public authorities money, while promoting sustainability.
