Other researchers, academics, students, engineers, architects, contractors, concrete producers, public works officials, material suppliers, and concrete industry professionals are invited to attend the conference in which the outcome of the healCON project will be presented, and to:
• Listen to presentations of other researchers that work on self-healing
• Discuss the future directions for self-healing concrete and other self-healing materials
The healCON conference 2-day meeting topics are:
1. Self-healing techniques for concrete
2. Modeling approached
3. Upscaling techniques
4. Full scale testing
5. Applications of self-healing concrete
Within the theme ‘Self-healing materials for prolonged lifetime’ (NMP.2012.2.1-3) of the Seventh Framework Program, self-healing concrete is an important topic. The four-year project “healCON – EU FP7”, deals with self-healing concrete to create durable and sustainable concrete structures was started in January 2013, and is starting its final year now. Adequate perpetuation of the road, tunnel and bridge network, is crucial to preserving European cohesion and business operations, and around 70% of this infrastructure is made of concrete.
